Smith Crossing COVID-19 Precautions
Required Precautions
To protect our Smith Crossing family, residents and their visitors, employees and third-party caregivers are expected to adhere to our safety protocols designed to stop the spread of COVID-19.
On our campus, everyone is required to:
- Wear a mask in all common areas, while interacting with each other and when traveling in a car with family and others
- Observe six-foot social distancing at all gatherings, including indoor and outdoor events, in dining rooms and during individual encounters in common areas
- Practice hand-hygiene throughout the day
- Follow all guidelines regarding isolation and care when a test indicates a positive result for the virus
- Quarantine for 14 days after visiting any State or Territory designated as a hot spot by the City of Chicago
Residents are encouraged to:
- Be tested for COVID-19 to comply with the requirements published by the Illinois and Will County Departments of Public Health, based on a resident’s level of living and the status of Smith Crossing and region
- Ask to be tested if they are concerned about their well-being
- Schedule telehealth appointments and only leave Smith Crossing when medically necessary
- Worship by watching televised services instead of attending a church
- Not dine in restaurants
- Not visit their family’s home
Staff members and third-party caregivers must:
- Participate in testing for COVID-19 as mandated by the Illinois and Will County Departments of Public Health
- Be screened at the beginning of and during each shift
- Wear a face mask at all time
- Wash their hands on a very regular basis, including before and after helping a resident
- Practice social distancing except when caring for residents requires otherwise
- Disinfect areas as assigned
Smith Crossing follows these and other practices published by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Will County and Illinois Departments of Public Health.
