Honored with CARF Accreditation for Nine Straight Years

Since 2008, Smith Crossing has earned the distinct honor of CARF accreditation, a prestigious accomplishment that less than 10% of Life Plan Communities achieve internationally.

But what does that mean for you? Well, for starters, no matter where you reside within the Smith Crossing campus, you have the assurance that the board of trustees and management staff continually provide and improve the highest quality of care, services, programs and facilities possible. This recognition also shows that we’ve made a specific commitment to put the needs of our residents and their families at the center of everything we do and present opportunities for improving services, encouraging feedback and serving the community.

Achieving the distinguished CARF accreditation

Founded in 1966, CARF International (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) is a worldwide, independent, nonprofit organization focused on advancing the quality of health, human services and financial stability for service providers. In 1985, CARF expanded its expertise to other disciplines that impact seniors, which includes continuing care retirement communities (Life Plan Communities) such as Smith Crossing. CARF accreditation is the official industry designation that an organization is guided by rigorous internationally recognized service standards and best practices.

It makes us a better and stronger organization,” says Amanda Mauceri, Smith Crossing executive director. “The accreditation process gives us an opportunity to continually evaluate our policies and procedures, and look at how we deliver our person-centered services to keep improving the quality of life we offer residents at Smith Crossing.”
