Senior Living Not-for-Profit

Emilie’s Fund

Ensuring ongoing care — today and tomorrow

Smith Senior Living plays a vital role in the welfare and well-being of seniors living in Chicago’s southwest neighborhoods and in the southwest sector of metropolitan Chicago. As a not-for-profit organization, our primary purpose is to enrich the lives of those we serve and to create an environment in which individuals thrive and make the most of every day.

It’s our mission to care for Smith Crossing and Smith Village residents who may have outlived their resources. Emilie’s Fund provides a safety net for seniors during their most vulnerable years.

At Smith Senior Living, we’ve never asked a resident to leave their home because they exhausted their funds through no fault of their own. Gifts like yours to Emilie’s Fund make it possible for deserving seniors to live with dignity and security in their Smith Senior Living home.

Annually, this program requires some $2 million in funding, so we rely on the generosity of donors and friends of our organization as well as various fundraising efforts.

Help enrich the life of a senior today by making a secure, tax-deductible donation to Emilie’s Fund by using the form below. Your generosity will go to work right away.

Through generous gifts like yours, we can continue to care for and enhance the independence of seniors in the Chicago area.

The story of Emilie’s Fund

Washington and Jane Smith Communities (dba Smith Senior Living, Smith Crossing, and Smith Village) are rooted in a nearly 100-year tradition of serving and caring for seniors. Since opening in 1924, the organization has been the recipient of many generous donations — most notably from the estate of Emilie Jane Smith, whose donation of $1.74 million in 1929 helped secure our future.

Emilie’s Fund was named to honor this significant contribution. Gifts to Emilie’s Fund are an essential part of ensuring our ability to continue caring for the needs of area seniors well into the future.
